Emergencies - Lost Hook or Tie

If our office is not open, and you are not in pain, you may wait until the next business day to contact our office for repair

PSA Out Completely:
If the PSA comes out of your mouth completely, please put the PSA in a plastic baggie and bring it to the office with you.

Contact our office as soon as possible to schedule an appointment.

PSA Loose

  • If both sides are loose, the appliance can be gently teased out and removed from the mouth.
  • If only one side is loose, please attempt to press the loose side back onto the tooth or teeth and temporarily reseat the expander.

In both cases please call the office to schedule a follow-up appointment.

Problems turning the expander: Please Click Here for detailed directions on turning the PSA (Expander).

  • As with all kinds of braces, patients with a PSA need to be careful about what they eat. Hard, sticky, chewy and crunchy foods can loosen the cement and pull the braces from the teeth. Don't play with the appliance with your tongue or fingers. More braces are damaged by these careless habits than any thing else.
